Position Summary
Eastern Mechanical Contractors is seeking an experienced Journeyman Commercial Plumber to join our growing mechanical team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining plumbing systems for commercial and industrial projects. This position requires technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and as part of a professional team.

Key Responsibilities
·         Install, repair, and maintain commercial plumbing systems, including domestic water, sanitary, storm, and gas piping.

·         Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine plumbing layout and materials.

·         Cut, thread, assemble, and install pipes, valves, and fittings made from copper, PVC, cast iron, steel, and other materials.

·         Test systems for leaks using air, water, or other pressure testing methods.

·         Install and connect fixtures, water heaters, pumps, and other mechanical components.

·         Ensure installations comply with applicable codes, safety regulations, and company standards.

·         Collaborate with other trades (HVAC, electrical, sheet metal) to coordinate work on large commercial projects.

·         Mentor apprentices and assist with on-the-job training.

·         Maintain a clean, organized work area and adhere to all company and OSHA safety requirements.

Qualifications
·         High school diploma or GED required; completion of an accredited plumbing apprenticeship preferred.

·         Valid Journeyman Plumber License required.

·         Minimum 4–5 years of commercial plumbing experience.

·         Strong knowledge of plumbing codes, materials, and installation techniques.

·         Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.

·         Must possess a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

·         Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

·         Ability to lift 50+ lbs., climb ladders, and work in confined spaces as needed.

Preferred Skills
·         Experience with large commercial buildings, schools, or healthcare facilities.

·         Familiarity with hydronic piping and mechanical system tie-ins.

·         Experience in medical gas or specialized piping systems (preferred).

·         Leadership or foreman experience is a plus.
