Roofer A

The Roofer A has special duties related to work conducted in or on high elevation locations on College buildings including removing snow, ice, water and debris from roofs, hanging banners, inspections of roofs, troubleshooting leaks and other issues, to determine the best way to repair and secure. The work involves working at heights in all weather conditions from aerial lift/bucket truck, ladders, scaffolding and staging, and other equipment. Must have knowledge of several different roof coverings, including E.P.D.M, TPO, copper, slate, composite, asphalt shingles and ballast, knowledge of fastening components, ability to estimate and make recommendations for repairs and requirements for repairs, and an understanding of how to make penetrations and permanent seal the roof to run wire and other mechanical materials. The position requires operation of aerial lift and the ability to oversee related work operations.

Required Qualifications – Education and Yrs Exp

  • High School plus 3+ years’ experience or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Qualifications – Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • Minimum experience: three- to five years’ experience with roofing.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be qualified under the terms of the Dartmouth College Driver Safety and Motor Vehicle policy. Must have a CDL class B license with air brake endorsement and have experienced operating an aerial lift.
  • Working knowledge of and skill in accepted surface preparation and roofing methods and techniques, including the use and maintenance of related tools and equipment.
  • Working knowledge of different types of roofing systems, plus solar panel installation.
    Ability to follow oral and written instructors, sketches and blueprints, and ability to plan and measure materials according to requirements and dimensions outlined in instructions.
  • Ability to work at heights on aerial lift/bucket truck, ladders, staging, scaffolding, and sloped roofs, and with ropes and harnesses.
  • Ability to use mobile device to take pictures and email.
  • Ability to maintain a working knowledge of all applicable safety rules and regulations.
  • Experience with Roofing Safety Procedures including
  • Personal Protective Equipment and Fall Protection
  • Training including use of harnesses and tie-offs.
  • Physical ability to perform work that involves lifting weights up to 80lbs, climbing, bending, and kneeling in all weather conditions.
  • Willingness to perform overtime when required

Lighting Retrofit Coordinator

The Lighting Retrofit Coordinator supports Dartmouth’s Engineering and Utilities Department to provide day-to-day management and coordination of the LED Lighting Retrofit Program. The purpose of the LED Lighting Retrofit Program is to install energy efficient LED lighting systems throughout the campus to reduce energy use and associated greenhouse gases, and reduce energy and maintenance costs. The Lighting Coordinator must be proficient, or can quickly learn proficiency, in all aspects of the planning and execution of lighting retrofit programs. The Lighting Coordinator’s duties include planning, facilitating installation, and tracking and reporting on progress. The position reports to the Energy Program Manager within the Engineering and Utilities Department. This is a Term position, with an estimated three to four year duration.

 

Required Qualifications – Education and Yrs Exp

  • Associates plus 2-3 years’ experience or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Qualifications – Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • Technical school graduate or equivalent education and experience.
  • Relevant Associate’s degree or trade license preferred.
    Must have a valid driver’s license and be qualified under the terms of the Dartmouth College Driver Safety and Motor Vehicle Policy.
  • Two years of relevant experience.
  • Aptitude with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and OneNote.
    Ability to perform math computations as related to energy savings (algebra).
  • Ability to read, interpret and modify floor plans and schematics.
  • Must have the ability to follow complex written and oral assignments and communicate effectively.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two+ years of experience with planning and executing lighting retrofit projects, including design, installation, energy savings calculations, rebate applications, etc.
    Associates or Bachelors degree in Electrical Technology, or Licensed Electrician.
  • Must be able to work independently under minimal supervision, exercise sound judgment and have excellent problem solving skills.
    Strong customer service orientation.
    Strong commitment to a diverse working environment and to serving the needs of a large and diverse community.
  • Must successfully complete and remain certified and compliant in all safety related course work as may be required by the College.
  • Willingness to work overtime as required.
  • Must be able to perform work that involves lifting, kneeling, climbing and working in cramped or awkward conditions. Must be able to occasionally lift, carry and hold objects weighing up to 80lbs. Must be willing to work indoors, outdoors and wear special or protective clothing.

Building Automation Control Tech B

  • Skill in maintenance and repair procedures including preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and repair, construction, installation and fabrication of electronic, electrical and mechanical control systems.
    Ability to read blue prints and schematics.
  • Must possess basic computer skills related to troubleshooting and programming access control systems.
    Must have the ability to follow complex written and oral assignments and communicate effectively.
  • Must be able to work independently under minimal supervision, exercise sound judgment and have excellent problem solving skills.
  • Must successfully complete and remain certified and compliant in all safety or trades related course work as may be required by the College.
  • Willingness to work overtime as required.
