UPS Pratt-Whitney Mechanic
Work Schedule: Tuesday through Saturday from 02:00 PM to 10:30 PM; full‑time, 40‑hour‑per‑week
This position involves maintaining and supporting an automated conveyor system in a physically demanding, fast‑paced operational environment, requiring frequent bending, lifting, climbing, standing, walking, and working at elevated heights or in confined and uneven spaces while wearing required PPE.
Entry level role requiring mechanical aptitude and basic electrical knowledge to safely operate, inspect, troubleshoot, and maintain powered equipment and vehicles, as well as the ability to lift, push, pull, and manipulate equipment and packages of significant weight. Employees must work effectively in variable environmental conditions, communicate clearly, follow directions, exercise sound judgment, read and interpret information and signage, complete required paperwork or electronic records, and cooperate within a diverse team while maintaining schedule flexibility for varying shifts, overtime, and additional hours as business needs require.

Familiarity with reading schematics and layout drawings
Maintain and support UPS conveyor and automated rack retrieval equipment (including sorters, belts, rollers, motors, drives, cranes, shuttles, sensors, and scanners) to ensure safe, reliable, and on‑time package flow within the operation
Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical issues impacting automated material‑handling systems, using schematics, system diagnostics, and standard UPS maintenance procedures to minimize downtime
Perform preventive maintenance inspections and adjustments in accordance with UPS BaSE standards, manufacturer specifications, and CMMS work orders to prevent equipment failure and unplanned service interruptions
Follow all UPS safety policies and procedures, including lockout/tagout, fall protection, PPE requirements, and electrical safety practices, while working at heights, in confined spaces, and around energized and moving equipment
