NH Governor Signs New Mechanical Code Package Into Law

After much debate and a long wait, NH finally will be leaving the 2009 Gas and Plumbing code books and enforcing more recent editions. The new code package set to take effect Sept 8th, 2019 for the gas fitting world includes the 2015 NFPA 54 National Fuel Gas Code and the 2014 NFPA 58 Liquified Petroleum code book. Effective September 15th, NH adopted for plumbers and others in the mechanical trades, the 2015 IPC (plumbing code), the 2015 IMC (mechanical code), and the 2015 IRC (residential code). New code always brings changes so stay in touch with your state and local inspectors as well as Granite State Trade School for updates and important changes.

New Chief Mechanical Inspector

Marc Prindiville has been appointed as the chief mechanical inspector. He was formerly one of the regional inspectors serving the state.

2015 NFPA 54 Update

NH is no longer pending adoption of the 2015 NFPA 54. Stay tuned for announcement as to what code book may become law. The PVC venting amendment has also “sunsetted” into history and is no longer in effect. Licensed installers are now required to consult the NFPA-54 and manufacturer’s installation instructions. On the heels of recent decisions in Massachusetts, NH mechanical board continues to ponder the fate of PVC used as a gas appliance venting material.
