Individuals in this position fulfill one or more of the operational work objectives of maintaining, inspecting, repairing and constructing City buildings and property, water distribution and wastewater collection facilities, storm drain system, and street related facilities or controls requiring the application of specialized skills such as carpentry, plumbing, electricity, masonry, automotive, painting, utility line inspection, and other general trades and performing skilled and semi-skilled work as required.  Employees in this position are expected to understand project or task objectives, identify, and execute the appropriate tasks, use tools correctly and to successfully complete assigned work with minimal instruction.  Work is performed individually, as part of a larger work unit, may involve the supervision of others and requires the use of good judgement.   Supervision is varied.

The purposes of this position are to perform skilled municipal maintenance and construction work and operate heavy equipment as required to complete work assignments.  Included are assignments such as crew leader, snow and ice control operations, street cleaning, other seasonal clearing and cleaning operations, drainage systems construction and maintenance, trench preparation and pipe laying, street repairs and paving, improving traffic and pedestrian access and sight distances, grounds maintenance, vegetation trimming, cutting and removal, excavating, back filling, loading, transporting and implementing job site and work safety procedures. Highway Laborer

The purpose of this position is to pick up and otherwise clear refuse, garbage, vegetation and other debris in all weather conditions from curbs and roadsides and leave collection areas generally clean.  Other seasonal clearing and cleaning operations are also performed.  The work involves constant safety awareness, the ability to recognize and take appropriate actions regarding hazardous materials and to use hand tools.

Pump Station Operator

Per the AFSCME 1386A Working Agreement, starting salary is $51,907.24 a year without Grade I or II NH Wastewater Treatment Operator Certification.  After six (6) months of successful employment, salary increases to $54,502.60 a year without Grade I or II NH Wastewater Treatment Operator Certification. Incumbent is required to acquire Grade 1 and Grade II Wastewater Treatment Operator Certifications and CDL class B with Tanker Endorsement.  Please see minimum required qualifications for detailed information.

The purpose of this position is to assist, individually and with others, in the operation and maintenance of the City of Portsmouth’s sewer pump station facilities. This includes functions such as cleaning and maintaining pump stations, tanks, sludge equipment, performing preventative maintenance and repair work, and otherwise completing assigned work. The position may also assist, individually and with others, in the operation and maintenance of wastewater treatment facilities, machinery and equipment according to the approved performance standards for which the operating unit is responsible.

The primary location of work duties is the Public Works Facilities located in Portsmouth, NH however, daily activities may involve work at one of the 22 pump stations located throughout the sewer system area in Portsmouth and surrounding communities.

Job Description

M. Braun, Inc. is currently seeking a full-time Production Assembly Technician to join our Production Department.  This person will be responsible for the assembly of all standard and custom gloveboxes and purifiers.  This individual should be highly motivated with the ability to prioritize and work well with others as well as independently once trained.  Job functions include, but are not limited to:

Equipment assembly
Glovebox leak testing and operational testing
All processes and tests involved in building a glovebox from beginning to end
Assembly of gas and electrical feedthroughs
General electrical assembly
Job Requirements

The ideal candidate should be detail-oriented and possess excellent communication and organizational skills.  This person should be able to stay focused and have the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written and oral instructions.  This individual should possess 2 or more years of hands-on manufacturing experience.  Job requirements include, but are not limited to:

Ability to read and interpret drawings
Ability to use hand and power tools (experience preferred)
Ability to lift 50lbs on a regular basis
Experience with small diameter stainless steel pipe bending (preferred but not required)
Experience with basic wiring, basic TIG welding (preferred but not required)
Compliance with ISO 9001 standards and procedures
