SCOPE OF POSITION:
Enjoy up to a $3,000 Sign-On Bonus! The 2nd Shift General Maintenance and Shift Technician ensures the safe and efficient operation of the high-pressure steam boiler plant operations, all associated heating and mechanical operations and other systems as necessary. This position performs duties as needed to ensure the comfort and safety of all residents, staff and visitors at the County Complex.

A DAY IN THE LIFE
The Facilities Operations team is committed to providing the employees and residents at Rockingham County a safe, supported, and environmentally conscious environment. The General Maintenance and Shift Technician is a vital part of our team who services/repairs our oil & wood biomass fired boilers, low- and high-pressure boiler support equipment, steam systems, HVAC/R, and pneumatic systems. They also perform safety inspections, identify & complete repairs, provide preventative maintenance on equipment, buildings, and systems. Further, they respond to fire alarm activations or other emergency situations, such as snow removal, at the County Complex for up to 16 hours.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Must have a working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, pipefitting and carpentry methods and procedures.
A High School Education and/or the equivalent.
Three to five years’ experience in industrial and/or commercial maintenance or;
The equivalent in vocational/technical training plus;
Willing to train the right candidate.
Possession of a valid driver’s license.

STATUS/SHIFT:  Full Time / 2nd Shift / Non-Exempt / Union

SHIFT DIFFERENTIAL:

2nd Shift: $1.75/Hour
3rd Shift: $2.00/Hour
Weekend Premium: $1.50/Hour

General Maintenance/Plumber

Description
Plumbing: Install, repair, and maintain plumbing systems and fixtures in campus buildings.  Read blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine the layout of plumbing systems, water supply networks, and waste and drainage systems.  Plan, install, and service plumbing systems, fixtures, piping equipment, and controls for water, waste, gases, or hot liquid systems.  Perform work in accordance with all relevant building codes, installation requirements, and legislation.

Other Duties:  Develop and perform preventative maintenance schedules of systems as scheduled.  Backup other maintenance personnel to respond to emergency calls as designated by the Facilities Manager.  Using power and hand tools, meters, and other similar measuring equipment associated with the trades.

Responsible for snow shoveling, plowing, and other equipment operations on a rotating schedule, including weekends and other hours not regularly scheduled.

Schedule: Full-time hourly position, 40 hours a week 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with a half-hour meal break, 12 months. This position must be available as needed for all school events and functions, including but not limited to: Parents Weekend, Reunion Weekend, and Commencement. Full-time benefits.

Employee will work a weekend duty assignment on a rotating schedule with other employees.   This requirement includes but not limited to being on call via cell phone from Friday, 3:30 p.m to Monday, 7:00 a.m. Maintenance cell phone is issued at this time and employee is required to respond to all calls.

Minimum Qualifications:

High School diploma, GED.  Any combination of further education, training, and experience.  New Hampshire State licenses: plumbing, gas fitting.

 

Knowledge of:   Plumbing layout and installations, relevant building codes, HVAC knowledge and experience preferred.

Basic knowledge of the following trades: electrical, carpentry, glass replacement, painting, masonry, groundskeeping, appliance repair; standard practices and tools used in maintenance and repair of building facilities; safety practices and procedures related to the building trades; basic math to add, subtract, multiply and divide is desired.

Strong written, verbal, and computer communication skills.

Must be responsible, and adaptable and can work courteously with colleagues and students.

Must be able to follow directions and work independently when required.

Must have a current driving license and Auto Liability insurance.

 

Physical requirements:

Must be able to remain in a stationary position for an extended time, must be able to move about the campus, campus buildings, and crawl spaces, ascend and descend ladders and stairs, and position yourself to access components and make repairs and modifications.  Able to set up, operate, and handle hand and power tools.  Must be able to detect, distinguish, and identify odors related to plumbing and maintenance tasks.  Able to visually discern and identify components and problems,  and read nameplate information on equipment.

Employees must be capable of working in different weather conditions, be comfortable working at heights and/or ladders, and have the ability to lift and move materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds without restriction.

Manufacturing Equipment Maintenance Technician (2nd Shift, Monday through Wednesday 5:00PM-5:30AM)

Job Purpose:

Performs electrical or mechanical troubleshooting to determine problems in non-functioning electro-mechanical equipment used in the manufacturing process.

Nature of Duties:

  • Troubleshoots, adjusts, repairs and assembles equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, operating or repair manuals, rough sketches or drawings.
  • Use test and diagnostic equipment to perform diagnostics.
  • Rebuilds/Service manufacturing equipment as required.
  • May perform equipment modifications as directed by Manufacturing Engineers.
  • Identify spare parts, tools or materials needed to maintain equipment.
  • Perform Regular Preventative Maintenance.

Education and Experience:

  • 2 year Technical Degree
  • 2 – 4 years minimum of SMT Machine Operation and Repair
  • Knowledge of Fuji equipment is plus.
  • Knowledge of Automation with some knowledge of PLCs and its operation.
  • Basic computer knowledge is required.
  • Experience decreasing downtime and yields improvements.

Summary of Position
Under general supervision of designated supervisor, perform the work requiring skill in the trade of plumbing/pipefitting for the installation, maintenance, and repair of heating and plumbing systems. Position may be either a Master or Journeyman. Responsible for providing excellent customer service and producing the highest quality of work. All plumbers are expected to act as department leaders and will mentor apprentice personnel. Provide expertise in the plumbing field for troubleshooting complex issues in addition to providing the services, knowledge, and responsibilities exclusive to the plumbing/pipefitter trade.

UNH Facilities is a 24/7/365 operation and has responsibilities related to campus safety and emergency response. Due to the nature of our business, employees may be asked to flex schedules and/or respond to requests outside of normal working hours in order to meet the demands of the university. This may include early morning, evening, weekend, and holiday work as needed.
