The Physical Plant Department at University of Vermont is seeking an individual for a full-time benefits eligible position as a HVAC Mechanic. This role will perform skilled installation, maintenance and repair of building heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems and controls, as well as skilled maintenance and repair of refrigeration equipment to include, chillers, freezers, refrigerators, coolers, etc. A HVAC Mechanic will confer with supervisor/s regarding all aspects of assigned duties and communicate with University campus partners regarding all aspects of requests.

High School diploma, Vermont Natural Gas Installer Certification, or ability to acquire within six months and three years’ experience in HVAC equipment and controls installation, maintenance and repair required. Boiler/Chiller Plant Operator

The Physical Plant Department at the University of Vermont is recruiting Second and Third Shift Boiler/Chiller Plant Operators. Boiler/Chiller Plant Operators operate, repair, and maintain the Central Utility Plant and its associated equipment. They monitor the Building Automation Control Systems and coordinate with Facilities Scheduling and other campus users to ensure proper system programming and schedule updates to meet the campus needs. Operators will dispatch mechanics in response to critical and non-critical system alarms, contact building occupants as required, and update building operations to ensure maximum energy conservation. They communicate with a variety of University personnel to effectively and efficiently manage the utility resources.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma, vocational courses, and three years of experience in heating and/or cooling plant operations and maintenance to include chiller experience required.

VT Fuel Oil Burning Equipment Installer (Limited) Certificate and a VT Natural Gas Certification or ability to obtain within six months required.

Building Automation Management Systems experience required.

Effective verbal communication skills required.

Valid driver’s license or ability to obtain and driver’s check may be required.

Experience using computers required.

Comfortable in confined spaces and with heights.

Maintenance Technician

Position Summary:

The Maintenance Technician II (Electromechanical) directly supports daily plant productivity and operations. This position performs routine maintenance, preventative maintenance, servicing, and repairs on all food processing and packaging equipment

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Troubleshooting, diagnoses, and repair of online food processing equipment. Major components being, mixers, grinders, industrial ovens, blast Freezers, Form Film Packaging machines, Carton forming and sealing machines, printers, metal detectors and a variety of conveying equipment.
Performs Process Line equipment and tooling change over’s
Simple fabrication and welding for repair and improvement.
Troubleshooting and installation of electrical control systems. Relay logic, PLC Logic, Photo eyes, Sensors. Etc.
Troubleshoot installation and programing of variable frequency drives
Troubleshoot installation and programing of controllers not limited to level and temperature
Repair, maintenance, and installation of hydraulic and pneumatic machine components
Installation and relocation of processing equipment as needed.
Uses technical manuals to research proper machine operations and to acquire replacement parts
Immediately report unsafe or unsanitary conditions
Completes Planned Maintenance tasks for assigned equipment
Use of computers for looking up parts, completing pms, training, research, etc
Read and understand the production schedule
Participates in continuous improvement activities
Qualifications:

5+ years in an industrial electrical mechanical or related position
Industrial equipment repair
Mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems repair
Experience working from mechanical drawings
Experience working from electrical drawings
Experience with three phase power
High School diploma or GED required,
Vocational certificate or degree in mechanical or electrical field preferred.

Maintenance Electrician I

The Maintenance Electrician I is responsible for upkeep and proper functioning of all facility electrical systems and assists with the diagnosis and repair of our CNC Lathes and CNC Milling machines. The ability to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems is crucial to day-to-day operations.

Position Specific Responsibilities

·        Install, maintain and repair all facility electrical systems, machine electrical systems and equipment to NEC standards.

·        Comply with NFPA 70E and OSHA standards.

·        Perform electrical maintenance tasks including, but not limited to, testing of systems and emergency generators.

·        Diagnose, maintain and repair machinery.

·        Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems to the failed component.

·        Able to operate complex controls.

·        Act as a member on the on call team.

·        Perform other duties as necessary.

Qualifications & Requirements

·        Two-year technical degree in electronics, electrical, electro-mechanical technologies or a related field.

·        5+ years’ experience installing, maintaining and repairing electrical equipment and systems to NEC standards.

·        Journeyman Electrician License.

·        Ability to evaluate and repair machinery.

·        Electrical and Mechanical knowledge with demonstrated troubleshooting capabilities.

·        Must have knowledge of NFPA 70E & OSHA standards.

·        Intermediate level in MS Office: Outlook, Word, and Excel desired.  Learn Epicor maintenance module.

·        Must be able to lift 50 pounds in a safe manner and request assistance when warranted.

·        Must be able to climb in and out of small places; crawl around machinery.

·        Must have range of motion sufficient to permit climbing stairs and ladders, walking, standing, stooping and crouching for extended periods while performing duties.
